How much does a website cost in Ghana in 2026?
Real price ranges for business websites in Ghana, what pushes the price up, and the monthly costs most quotes leave out.
If you have asked three web designers in Accra for a quote, you probably got three very different numbers. That is not because someone is lying. "A website" can mean a one-page menu or a full online shop, and the quote changes with it.
Here is what the market looks like in 2026, what actually moves the price, and the costs that come after launch.
The price ranges
Pricing guides published by Ghanaian web agencies in 2026 put one-time build costs roughly here:
- Basic or starter site (1 to 3 pages): GHS 800 to 2,000
- Small business site (5 to 7 pages): GHS 2,000 to 4,500
- Corporate site: GHS 4,500 to 7,000
- Online shop: GHS 7,000 to 12,000
- Custom platform, logins or payments: GHS 12,000 and up
Use these as a map, not a menu. Two sites with the same page count can be very different jobs.
What pushes the price up
Design from scratch versus a template. A template is cheaper and faster. A custom design costs more, but it is built around your brand and your customers instead of someone else's.
Content. If you already have your text and photos, the job is faster. If the designer has to write copy, organise a photo shoot or source images, expect that in the quote.
Features. Booking forms, online payments with Mobile Money, a menu you can edit yourself, multiple languages or a members' area all add time.
A CMS. A content manager lets you change prices, photos and opening hours yourself. It costs a little more to set up and saves you money every time something changes.
Who you hire. A student or a template reseller will be cheaper than a studio. The question is who answers the phone six months later when something breaks.
The costs that come after launch
This is where most business owners get caught out. A website is not a one-off purchase. It needs:
- A domain name, renewed every year
- Hosting, the server that keeps it online
- An SSL certificate, the padlock that stops browsers showing "Not secure"
- Updates and backups, so it keeps working and can be restored if something goes wrong
- Small edits, like new prices, staff changes or a holiday notice
The same 2026 guides put monthly maintenance in Ghana at roughly GHS 150 to 2,000, depending on how much is included. If your quote says nothing about any of this, ask. A cheap build with no plan for afterwards is how sites end up broken a year later.
How to compare quotes properly
When you have quotes side by side, ask each designer the same questions:
- How many pages, and what is on each one?
- Will I be able to edit the content myself?
- Who owns the domain and the hosting account? (The answer should be you.)
- What happens after launch, and what does it cost per month?
- How many rounds of changes are included?
- What do you need from me, and by when?
A good quote answers all six without you having to ask.
